SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

TLC stands for Tender Loving Care and is the name of a ministry of our church allowing us to share God's love through practical acts of kindness.  For this ministry to flourish WE NEED YOU!  We need you to come out and assist with one of our TLC projects on an every-other-month basis.  We also need you to open your eyes to see needs around us.  What projects could a group of unskilled but good-hearted people take on and bless someone?  Is there someone disabled on your street that could use some yard work?  Is there someone elderly that you know or in your neighborhood that would be blessed by having some odd jobs done around their home?  If you see something, call the church office at the number above.

TLC does not only do practical works every other month - one of our TLC workers demonstrated the heart of TLC by repairing the faucet of one of our own members last week.  We'd like to see more of the demonstration of God's love through practical work on an everyday basis.  Thanks to that worker, and blessings to the one with the new faucet!

Saturday, January 12, 2008 was our usual every-other-month TLC (Tender
Loving Care) work day.  This time we volunteered to travel to Chehalis and
work at a home that had been ruined in the December flood.  There were
twists and turns that led us to this particular home, but we felt it was
where God led us.  Usually we work only half a day, but this time we devoted
a whole day, partly because of the long drive, partly because of the
magnitude of the need.  We left at 7 and arrived home at 5.  We shoveled
mud, dug out trees, hung insulation, repaired a wall, swept, and delivered
good will to a couple who had been preparing for retirement.  They lost 2
homes, one to be used as income for retirement, and one to live in.  We
joined another group from Belleview, making a total of about 20 unskilled
and skilled workers.  It's amazing what all was accomplished in that time.
We all got thoroughly muddy, extremely tired, and felt so blessed to be able
to once again demonstrate God's love in practical ways.

TLC

TLC grew out our 2005 Mission Trip to Louisiana. TLC is an outreach to our community and an encouragement to our church members. Volunteers from Harvard Covenant meet the 2nd Saturday every other month to help those with a need. That need may be a widow who needs her home painted or deck fixed. That need may be a neighbor who is moving and needs to up-root special plants to be moved in order to be kept. It may be a friend who has been sick and needs their lawn mowed or bushes trimmed. It could also be some with a large home project that just needs a few extra hands. It can even be a need at the church, painting stairs, or cleaning up the church grounds. Bag lunches are provided to those who come and work. If you have a similar need and think we could be of service, OR, if you are willing to be of service and lend a hand every other month for just a few hours, please call the church at 253/537-5288. Or send an email to harvardcovenantchurch@yahoo.com . All messages will be passed to someone who would enjoy hearing from you.
